If your Superbowl Sunday was anything like mine, you spent the day in a Nyquil coma. Even if you were watching the game, you probably missed out on a couple of things. In my efforts to catch up on everything that happened yesterday, I stumbled across several notable things that happened that weren't shown on Fox.
5. The Puppy Bowl Halftime Show
Yes. That is Keyboard Cat playing a Bruno Mars song while kittens, penguins, and puppies dance along.
4. The Superbowl Commercial that Newcastle Didn't Make
At ifwemadeit.com, you can see the ad that Newcastle would have made if they
weren't trying to go viral had the money to spend on a superbowl spot. Though the actual ad that the didn't make was mildly entertaining, the trailer for the ad definitely made me laugh.
3. Seahawks Twitter Posts
Given Richard Sherman's recent post-game history, I wasn't sure what I expected to see/hear from the Seahawks after the game was over. I was pleasantly surprised at how supportive and thankful the players seemed to be, especially Sherman.
2. The Love/Hate for Coca Cola's Ad
Love: This was the first SuperBowl ad in history to show a gay couple. Gay rights advocates applauded Coca Cola for including a two-father family in the ad celebrating diversity.
Hate: There was massive Twitter backlash (#BoycottCoke) about the fact that America the Beautiful was sung in different languages. I don't know what was more amusing- the fact that so many Americans seem to think that America the Beautiful is the national anthem or the horrendous grammar exhibited by the "American traditionalists".
1. Aziz Ansari's Friday Night Lights Superbowl Commentary
What started out as a single joke tweet soon became a hilarious running commentary with better writing than Friday Night Lights' second season after Scott Porter joined in. For the full story, check out #FNLBowl2. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!
